LAIDBACK
(Retail Store, Massage Chairs & Wellness)
Chris and Dave Laidman had a unique business model in the wellness market. Engage Wellness Solutions was built so that companies could add a massage component to their corporate programs for employees. Engage worked with HR departments and would bring in their “intelligent massage chairs” and body composition equipment for a given period of time to work with employees on their total mind-body fitness.

In late 2019, the Laidmans started looking into expanding their offering to retail, looked for a location for a massage chair store and secured space in the upscale town of Wellesley, MA. Their timing could not have been more prescient. With the advent of COVID-19 and the large number of shuttered companies, their corporate service business had pretty much dried up. It became even more important to get their retail location up and running so they’d be ready when things began to open back up. I worked with them over the Summer of 2020 to develop the consumer retail brand, to name their store (“LAIDBACK,” what else?!?), create a logo and provide launch materials including a website, business cards, advertising, and various membership materials.
Not only were Chris and Dave excited about the work, LAIDBACK had a stellar first month despite the restrictions of the pandemic. I'm very grateful for testimonials like this one:
